Introduction
For expat parents when they land in the UAE, there are so many things to deal with that they at times find it hard to cope. To stay in control of everything, one needs to come up with a systematic approach that makes it easy for them to plan and work on things accordingly.
Following are some areas that need their immediate attention for them to settle down quickly:
Finding the right place for your residential needs
The location should be perfect in every way, especially from the transportation perspective so commuting to areas is not a problem for them.
Finding the right school and enrolling their child.
Locating the nearest supermarkets from where they can get grocery and household with ease.
The focus of this writing attempt is mainly on helping you out in making things right and easy for your child by finding the right school; therefore, I will not be covering all other areas.
Many schools are offering different curriculum to students here in the UAE. Let's say, if you are residing in Sharjah, you can find a kindergarten school Sharjah that is offering more or less the same syllabus to learners that are actually offered in your home country.
You may be departing from UAE after a few years when you have served your job contract (in case you have traveled to UAE for the sake of a job that was offered to you). Or even if it is an offshore setup, you never know, once things are in line you might as well want to go back to your home country.
These could be very sensitive and complicated phases for your child as he/she may have to go through a lot when it comes to coping. May expat parents mission out this highly important point and they end up enrolling their child in a school that is offering a 360 degrees different syllabus.
After studying for a couple of years, the child somehow makes it and starts coping with what is taught, but when the times came, and he/she has to travel with you back to the home country, it is more or less a total start over from the beginning.
Many parents don't realise and find it hard to figure out the actual problem when their child has to go through different health issues, mainly stress and anxiety from the very young age. However, in actuality, it is these makeshifts that are so exhausting that they start hurting the children's overall confidence and performance levels.
You can help
Try to avoid panic situations and go through all the available options in a detailed manner.
Once you have shortlisted some of the good schools, you may call them and book an appointment with them.
Try to set timings during the school hours.
Meet the personnel that will be involved with your child.
Ask them as many questions as you like.
Check the course outline, learning materials, playgrounds and other activity areas.
See what the strength of the school is like.
If possible, try to mingle with some existing children and check their level of happiness and excitement.
Meet a couple of parents just to know their views about the kindergarten school Sharjah that you are interested in.
What are the school timings and would be you who will drop the kid at school or do they have a transportation system for school set in place.
Don’t forget to check the fee structure in detail, remember schools in UAE are usually expensive.
Bringing it all together:
For you, your child’s future is going to be everything and rightly so. You just cannot leave things unattended or deal them using a casual attitude. You will need come to the fore and take over the proceedings. It is going to be your efforts and timely decisions that will make it easy for your child to cope.
Failing to respond in a timely and required manner will make it a complicated scenario for your child, and he/she may find it hard to focus on learning. Besides, you don't want your child to go back and forth just to cope with different types of the syllabus, do you? Think and act smartly using a proactive approach.
