How To Choose The Best Kindergarten School In Dubai!

Updated: Nov 18, 2019

Kindergartens are the first stage of schooling for children, and they play an essential role in helping build your child’s confidence and social abilities.

But, how do you know which one to choose?

Every parent wants their child to have the best possible experience growing up, but finding the right school can be a difficult task. This is especially true for a city like Dubai, where there is an endless amount of academic institutions to choose from.

With that in mind, here are a few points to consider when picking a nursery or kindergarten school Dubai for your child:

Curriculum

Often times, schools will add the words “British” or “International” in their name, signifying the type of curriculum they follow.

But don’t just take their word for it, ask them about it!

Get in touch with the institution’s administrative staff, and ask them about the practices and methods they use to ensure that a particular curriculum is incorporated into the children’s daily routines.

You’ll also need to be careful with your decision here because once a student has been part of a specific curriculum (e.g. American or British) for a few years, it can be very difficult to make the switch to another should the need arise in the future.

The classroom’s environment

Each nursery and kindergarten school Dubai will offer a tour of their campus and the classrooms to prospective clients before admission.

Use this opportunity to observe the environment within the classrooms and look out for how they’ve been set up.

In particular, you’ll want to keep an eye out for some of the smaller details which show that the school cares about its students, especially the younger ones.

This can include things like bulletin boards where all of the best work from the class is highlighted, a separate play area, an abundance of comfortable sleeping mats, and snacks for when the children get hungry.

We also recommend staying in one of the classes for 5-10 minutes and observing the teaching methods being used. You want to make sure that the teacher is engaging the students and keeping the class environment fun for a better learning experience.

Talk to the teacher

Usually, when parents visit an educational institute, they’ll only talk to the administrative staff or the principal and base their decision off of this interaction.

While talking to the principal is a great way to understand the school’s ethos and its priorities, it’s vital that you also interact with the teaching staff.

Ask them about the routine they follow during the class, some of the methods they use to calm down kids who are crying, and how they aim to ensure an enjoyable experience for all of the students!

You should also inquire about the school’s policy on children who have learning disabilities. Most institutions will cater to the needs of special children by putting in extra time after school hours to help them with their weaknesses, but there are a few schools that might refuse your request.
